Sell photos on lensartists

Wanna sell some photos on lensartists.com?

Maybe you have a couple pictures that have turned out really well. Or maybe you have loads and loads of them that you want to get out there for the world to see!

From what I've seen, most photo libraries will pass on a whopping 30 - 35 percent of the total profit* to the photographer. I think that's a rip off! You, the photographer, the person responsible for the photo being available in the first place, should be getting more than that. A LOT more than that! But saying that, there are bills that need to be covered, and website hosting/admin that need to be paid for. And to be honest, I need to make something for the time and effort I'm putting in to get the photos printed, securely packaged, and sent off in a timely manner to the customer. So send me an email, I'll let you know the options, and you can opt for which one you prefer.

If you're interested, please send an email to info@lensartists.com with a couple of your pictures as an example of what you have, as well as information on the number of pictures you have that you'd like to have uploaded to the site.

Of course, there's a bunch of legal stuff too. The links to the releases and guidelines all require Adobe Reader. Click the Adobe logo below to go to a page to download the reader:

If needed, email me and I can send the forms in another format.

  • Submitting photos that contain a recognisable person or building is fine, but you'll need to fill out a Model / Property Release.  Have a read of the Model Release Guidelines and the Property Release Guidelines. When you've had a read, print and fill out the Model & Property Release, scan it, and email it to me. If you don't have a scanner, send me an email (info@lensartists.com) and we'll figure something out. We might even need to use good old fashion snail mail! How retro...
  • The Trademark Copyright and Protected Items Guidelines has some good stuff on photos that contain trademarked items, photos you didn't actually take, photos out of books... all sorts of dodgy stuff that I'm sure you wouldn't do, but we have to cover our butts!
  • Here's some information on photo specs. If you have a low quality photo you want uploaded, it won't necessarily be excluded. It all depends on the artistic content, and if you're happy that it might only be able to be sold in a smaller format. Have a look at the Photographic Art Specifications
  • The good legal stuff, the terms and conditions, the document that the lawyers put together. Gotta love lawyers! The Trading Agreement
  • Money talks! All payments to the artists will be made in New Zealand dollars.

* total profit would be the amount of money made after printing
